Q1 What is your name?
Maria Martinez.
Q2 What is your role at BCC Institute?
International Student (CRICOS) Manager
Q3 What is your earliest memory?
I was a very observant type of kid. I analysed first the behaviour of people around me before I trusted them.
Q4 Did you play any sports or have any hobbies as a teenager?
My hobby when I was young was writing poems.
Q5 Did you have a teen idol? Who was it and what were they famous for?
I did, Lea Salonga - a Filipina singer. A Broadway singer and a theatre singer. That has a very well known performance in Ms Saigon.
Q6 What was your first job? Best job/why? Worst job/why? Ideal job/why?
First Job was a Leasing Assistant. Best job was when I was a HR Executive, it is inspiring how you are part of everyone's success in their work place. Helping people to be the best they want to be and supporting them to be successful. My ideal job, is my role now, helping people with compliance and helping students to be successful.
Q7 Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
My fate was the biggest influence. I started here in Australia as a student. When you start in a place where you are very new, you will need the right people to direct you, to help you do the right thing.
Q8 What is your favourite place in Sydney (that perhaps not many people know about)?
I just love everything in Sydney, northern beaches and mountain view etc.
Q9 If you could visit any country, where would you go?
I would like to visit to Cappadocia, Turkey.
Q10 What advice would you give to new students?
Being a student is hard, but it gets better. That no matter hard it takes you to fulfill your dreams, doing the right thing will always be your priority, because success is for those who have integrity.
